About Elizabeth A Wood

Elizabeth Wood, DHS, MPH is a Clinical Assistant Professor of the Department of Environmental and Global Health and, also, serves as the Director of Public Health Outreach for the Public Health Programs where she was the former Bachelor of Public Health Director. She received her B.A. in Religion, with an emphasis on Islamic Studies, from the University of Florida in 2010, and an MPH in Social and Behavioral Sciences in 2012 from the University of Florida. She went on to complete her DHS in Global Health at Nova Southeastern University in 2016.

Dr. Wood has a vast variety of research interests that include integrating gender and nutrition within agriculture extension services, how gender-based violence contributes to livelihood in rural Tajikistan, and the relationship between access to clean water and reproductive health in Haitian women. She has also collaborated with academic institutions abroad to build public health workforce capacity, as well as developed the first ever undergraduate study abroad program in Haiti at the University of Florida. Dr. Wood has recently designed a virtual exchange program with faculty in Egypt and Spain to increase intercultural and digital competence within the classroom.
