How to Apply


We’re excited that you are ready to apply to the Department of Environmental and Global Health at the University of Florida!

Carefully review the steps below to complete your application to our degree programs. The following instructions are for students wishing to apply to our PhD in One Health or PhD in Environmental Health, or the Masters in One Health or Environmental Health.

First Step: SOPHAS Application 

  • Complete the SOPHAS online application and pay the non-refundable application fee. (Please note: the fee will vary according to the number of school designations selected)
  • Arrange for GRE exam scores to be sent to SOPHAS, code 7769. (GRE exam scores must be within five years of submitting application)
  • Arrange to have one set of official transcripts from each institution attended sent to SOPHAS (the address is listed below)
    • All international applicants must submit a World Education Services (WES) evaluation, http://wes.org in lieu of official transcripts
  • Arrange to have three Letters of Recommendation submitted. At least two must exhibit research acumen.
  • Submit a one-page professional Statement of Purpose outlining objectives that match the philosophy and focus of the program you have selected
  • Submit a Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • International Students Only: Arrange to have official TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB scores submitted.

Second Step: University of Florida Application for Graduate Admission

  • Complete the University of Florida Application for Graduate Admissions online and pay the non-refundable $30 application fee. You may pay online by credit card or send the application fee and other required materials to the Office of Graduate Admissions (the address is listed below). Please note that the $30 (US) application fee is required from all students applying to a graduate program including current and former University of Florida students.
  • When completing the application, for Program of Study: choose College of Public Health and Health Professions
    • To apply to one of our PhD programs, select Public Health, Degree Name – Doctor of Philosophy, and select a term. Under Additional Information, please specify whether you would like to apply to the One Health or Environmental Health concentration.
    • To apply to the MHS in One Health program, select Environmental and Global Health, Degree Name – Master of Health Science, and select a term. Under Additional Information, please specify the One Health concentration, and indicate whether you are interested in the online or on campus program under Program Specialization.
    • To apply to the MPH in Environmental Health program, select Public Health, Degree Name – Master of Public Health, and select a term. Under Additional Information, please specify that you are applying to the Environmental Health concentration.
    • Below is an example of the window you will see (as an MHS One Health student)Sample
  • If you submitted a Statement of Purpose and Letters of Recommendation through SOPHAS, you do not need to duplicate these in the UF application.
  • Arrange to have official transcripts from each institution attended sent to the University of Florida (the address is listed below).
  • Arrange for GRE exam scores to be sent to the University of Florida, code 5812. (GRE exam scores must be within five years of submitting application)
  • International Students Only: Arrange to have official TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB scores submitted.
