Staff Spotlight: Erin Ferguson

At the Department of Environmental and Global Health, our administrative and staff support are the backbone of ensuring our operations run smoothly. Gainesville-native Erin Ferguson has been with the department for the past seven months and has already made her impact.

Prior to coming to the EGH department, Ferguson worked for the UF College of Medicine.

“When I saw the posting, it included HR work, which is something I haven’t had the pleasure of doing with UF yet,” she said. “I wanted to learn a new aspect of an administrative role within UF.”

In her day-to-day, Ferguson manages fiscal responsibilities, calendars for faculty and staff, event planning and execution and she also serves as the UFGO specialist for all travel and reimbursements. Outside of her time at work, Ferguson loves to fish, swim and tend to her garden!

Ferguson said she especially enjoys working closely with her fellow faculty and staff, as well as learning about the unique research from faculty members.

“When I started, I had no idea what working in EGH meant,” she said. “Now, as I’ve been here for 7 months, the impact that EGH makes everywhere is so inspiring.”
